Hi Jan:
I thought I'd let you know that in aug-Sept of 2007 I travelled on a Russian ship through the Northwest Passage. We flew to Resolute Bay and there borded the Akademic Ioffe , A Russian research vessel which is also used for tours in the Arctic and Antarctic and spent 14 days going through the NWPassage out to the Beaufort Sea. The Captain Tatarin asked me if I would write something about my father for his web site and i note that he posted it . http://lit.lib.ru/t/tatarin_l_s/msword-29.shtml
The photo they include is not of me so I sent him the ones that I am attaching to this e-mail. The one shows the ship the Akademic Ioffe. That and the one of me taken on an ice flow were shot just south of Banks Land where Amundsen Strait meets the Beaufort Sea.
Gordon and I went to Nova Scotia in October for the unveiling of a memorial commemorating the arrival of the St Roch in Halifax 65 years previously Oct 11 1942. I'll attach that photo separately.
I enjoyed your website
Happy New Year to you all
Regards
Doreen
